Review & Description
The first installment of the Infernal Stock series, Dixon Breaks Loose introduces the reader to the world of Dixon Azel, the narrator of this tale. Dixon is an experienced soul broker working for the Hell Corporation's branch office in an undisclosed location in the American Southwest. His division specializes in leveraging the desires of the human heart to entice a mark to trade one soul for one desperate wish.
On the surface, Dixon appears to be the sort of man every woman wants. In truth, he's just a cynical guy who over-indulges in guilty pleasures like fast food and gambling, without experiencing the guilt. He's lived long enough to know things that you and I can't even find in books--but he's not old enough to know better than to let his ego get him into trouble.
The series begins with a challenge from Dixon's manager: 10 souls by year-end or Dixon goes back to headquarters for re-training. The fiery pit of Hell has lost its charms for Dixon after centuries of sunshine and cheeseburgers, so he takes on the task ambitiously.
Dixon's plans begin to unravel when an allied coworker goes missing under suspicious circumstances. He wonders just how many things he never learned could be waiting to hurt him around the next bend in the road to salvation. When it happens, the shock rattles the foundation of his existence.
Dixon meets a woman who stirs in him all of the feelings and desires that he has plied in his trade to win the souls of the witless masses. To complicate matters, the woman has some strange friends, and that makes him a little bit nervous.
Get to know the most lovable guy in the world who has a miserable office job with a bunch of young coworkers who disrespect him. So, he's different because his CEO is actually Satan--the real one. Dixon may not be a saint, but he sure is one hell of a guy!
